Welcome to the 2025 Men's Oil City Cup Qualifier #2

 

 

 

 

We’re pleased to announce the qualifying details for the 2025 Men’s Oil City Cup, Fort McMurray Golf Club’s premier competitive events. All interested players are invited to register and compete for a spot on this year’s team.

 

Qualifying Date & Details

Qualifier #2 - Sunday, June 22nd – Tee times begin at 1:00 PM

This is a competitive gross stroke play qualifier, tournament rules are in effect with play from the White Tees.

18 Hole Course will be Big River Black Bear

Registration is open to Pass Holders, Shareholders, Staff and Golf Professionals of Fort McMurray Golf Club

Registration will close Friday June 20th at Midnight.

 

Qualifying Entry Fee: $35/player plus tax. (Includes post-round appetizers and drinks)

Registration Opens: May 19th via the club website

 

Each qualifying event will award:

  • 4 team spots
  • 1 alternate spot

 

Note:  In 2025 all players, including professional staff, must qualify through the same process this year.

 

Qualifying Format

  • 18 holes of stroke play
  • The 4 lowest scores from each qualifier earn team spots
  • 1 alternate selected per qualifier
  • 2 captain’s picks will complete the team

 

Additional Selection Criteria

6 players have also earned automatic qualification through performance in the following 2024 FMGC events:

  • FMGC Club Championship
  • FMGC Men’s Open

Automatic selection was awarded to players who:

  • Won either event
  • Finished in the Top 3 of either event
  • Finished Top 10 in both events

 

2025 Oil City Cup Tournament Dates

August 1–3, 2025

Rounds 1 & 3 at Fort McMurray Golf Club

Round 2 at Miskanaw Golf Club

 

Player Fee: $250 plus tax per player

(Includes 3 team shirts and 1 team hat)

 

Final Day Tradition

As part of the event tradition, players on the losing team are required to:

  • Pay $100 cash to the opponent they played on the final day
  • Cover cost of both dinners, gratuity for themselves and their opponent on final day
    • This tradition also applies to Alternates, Captains, and Assistant Captains
